The next meeting of the SAMHS will be held on Thursday, 27th of November at the Dulwich Community Centre, 14 Union St, Dulwich at 6:00 pm.
We are delighted to welcome Prof. John Crompton, AM, RFD this month, who will be presenting on "Lessons Learnt Teaching in the Asia-Pacific Region for 40+ Years".
John Crompton was Head of the Neuro-Ophthalmology Service at the Royal Adelaide Hospital from 1984–2017 and Senior Visiting Medical Officer from 1979–2017. After undergraduate medical training at the University of Adelaide, he obtained his eye training at the RAH, RVEEH, and RMH, followed by post-graduate fellowships in Jerusalem and Leeds, with further study in London and the USA. As an Army Reservist (1965–2011), his last posting was as Colonel, Consultant Ophthalmologist to the Surgeon General, ADF.
He has long been involved in medical politics and was President of RANZCO (2000–2001) and the Neuro-Ophthalmology Society of Australia (2013–2015 and 2017–2019). He has participated in more than 40 surgical and teaching tours across the South Pacific, Southeast Asia, and China, as well as ADF surgical trips to remote Australia. He has worked in 18 countries worldwide. His published works include 86 peer-reviewed papers, numerous book chapters, and one sole-authored book.

Christmas Lunch
The SAMHS Christmas luncheon will be held on Friday, 12th of December at Living Choice, 123 Fisher St., Fullarton at 12:00 pm.
Our SAMHS Christmas gathering will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, 12 December, at Living Choice, Fullarton. The speaker will be Professor John Turnidge AO, who will talk on the topic of Antibiotic resistance and stewardship. The talk will be followed at 13:00 by a meal at Nature's Providore restaurant.
Please let the Secretary ( SA-MHS [at] outlook.com ) know as soon as possible if you plan to attend so we can finalise numbers.
As always, guests are welcome; however, please register them ahead of the meeting if possible.
